I had a client who was afraid to sell and as a result she struggled in her business for many years barely making enough money to get by. In fact, she had to have a job AND work on her business because she couldn’t sell.
She had a belief that selling was manipulative and a way to take advantage of people. That didn’t feel good or right to her because it went against her core values.
We worked on shifting her beliefs about what selling really is – serving people and helping them get what they want and need.
And, we also worked on her really getting the value of what she offered and that it was actually stingy of her not to share it with everyone.
She realized she was holding out on helping people by not learning the skill of selling from the heart with integrity.
This past year, she reported that it has been her best year ever in her business. She was thriving because she overcame her shyness about selling and realized the value of her service and how it helped people.
Most people struggle with selling for one of two reasons:
- You are afraid of offending or bothering someone and don’t want to manipulate them. OR
- You lack the confidence to sell because you aren’t convinced of the value of your own product or service.
The good news is that these are solvable problems that just require training and coaching to overcome.
